With the lightening fast turn around on new releases, it certainly seems to be out with the old and in with the new. This can be so frustrating for consumers when they find the perfect product only to have it whisked away from them! The plethora of limited edition products only perpetuates this warp speed FIFO attack and we're left holding our empty treasures, hoping that the company might one day bring them back.
Fumes that should never have been discontinued...
- Mac Naked Honey - an absolute delight of a fragrance, all sticky honey and white florals. Mac released this as an LE and I'm clinging to my 20ml bottle as the last 1/4 slowly disappears.
- Cuir de Lancome (and the La Collection in general) - I can only assume these have all been axed as they're not available at any Lancome counter I've been to in Australia, nor are they on the Lancome website. A highly sophisticated bunch, particularly when compared with the rest of Lancome's current lineup. Cuir de Lancome is a particular treat in all it leather-y goodness!
- Donna Karan Gold - Gold, with all its lush, heavy lilies; was a stunning and ultra glamorous scent. Why, why why?!
- L'Occitane Honey & Lemon - this is seriously my ultimate comfort (when I'm at home, sick and in my uggs) scent. While it's not exactly a feat of perfume mastery it's a scent that I adore!
Luckily, some of these scents are still available online. Thank god for the Internet!
What scents do you wish were still around?
That's exactly why I never venture into vintage scents or even try ones that I know are discontinued. I'm too afraid I'm going to love them (which is very rare for me) and then never be able to get them.
ReplyDeleteLet's get MAC to bring Naked Honey back! I loved it so much I bought the body wash (not good on me!), salve OK but pricey for what it was, and 2 backup bottles of Naked Honey! Did you like the African Honey? Did't work for me.
ReplyDeleteDonna Karan Gold-big old perfume headache for me.
L'Occitane Honey & Lemon - the only L'Occitane product I ever bought was the hand cream-just marvelous and my first experience with that kind of cap which I loved. Went back to the story at a rather faraway mall and was very rudely informed by the SA that it was discontinued-as if this was something I should have known!
DK Gold and CdL are two of my ALL TIME FAVORITES! Luckily I have backup bottles of both. I also love DK Signature which seems to have gone dodo. And I'm down to the dregs of my bottle of Egoiste Cologne Concentree from the '90s -- EDT is not the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the Lancome La Collection. Also Climat. And several L'Occitane scents too, as they are terrible for discontinuing, then remaking, then discontinuing. I'm lucky that there are not too many perfumes I truly love that are discontinued, though.
ReplyDeleteI miss the Demeter fragrances - I know they are not totally gone, but they are not nearly as readily available as they used to be.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the MAC Naked Honey. It was beautifully composed and when I ran out of it, I was devasted to find they didn't make it anymore.
