Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well and had a fabulous weekend. I had a great weekend (albeit a very busy one hence my lack of posts) celebrating my friends 23rd birthday. We went for some yummy Asian food, made cocktails and generally had a good old knees up. Just what I needed! Anyway, before I go off on a tangent, I want to tell you about two fabulous hair products I've been using recently.

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, my hair is bleached blonde meaning it can be prone to dryness and looking a bit dull. With this being said, I'm constantly on the look out for new lotions and potions that will make my hair healthy, soft and shiny. Well, this is where the Macadamia hair range comes in very handy. A range of hair products made with nourishing Macadamia and Argan oil ingredients to restore and nourish damaged hair. I've been using a few products from the range for a while now and today I'd like to share my thoughts on the Deep Repair Masque* and Control Spray*.

Over the past few years, I've tried my fair share of hair masks. From ones targeted for blonde hair to ones that claim to make your hair grow (yes, I'm talking about you Lee Stafford), I've tried them all. However, I've never used one that's made me think 'wow'. Well - until now that is. As soon as I received this Macadamia hair mask in the post, I couldn't wait to try it. Not only do I love the super cute floral packaging and the fact its full of nourishing oils and natural ingredients but oh my gosh, it smells out of this world. Seriously guys, it was love at first whiff! I have a thing about wanting the products I use to smell nice and this one ticks all of my boxes. Secondly, I love the consistency. As you can see in my photos above, its very thick and gloopy which in my personal opinion is how a hair mask should be. I really hate buying a new hair mask only to find its all watery and runny - no thank you!

When I first received this product, I immediately jumped in the bath, slathered it all over my hair and left it for the seven minutes as instructed. However, after using it and being left disappointed that my hair wasn't as soft and tangle-free as I'd expected, I decided to do a bit of research to figure out where I was going wrong. What I realised is that this product isn't supposed to replace your regular conditioner, its to be used alongside it one or twice a week. So even thought its called a hair 'masque' (which I instantly presumed translated to leave-in conditioner), its actually a hair treatment and an extra hair treat after you've used your standard conditioner. Once I knew this, I realised that although it doesn't necessarily make much difference to my hair whilst wet (it doesn't make it easier to brush through or less tangled like conditioner does), the results it gives my hair once dry are fantastic. On the days I've used this my hair has been soft, shiny and frizz free. More importantly, the results actually last too. Unlike a lot of hair masks that leave hair feeling temporarily soft immediately after use, this one leaves my hair softer and generally more healthy looking for days. This makes me think that this mask is not only giving my hair a boost of nourishment when I've first used it but is also helping to keep it nourished and healthy in the long run too.

The only thing I don't like about this product is the price. A 250ml tub (its also available in 100ml and 500ml) will set you back £23.95 which is very steep for a product that isn't going to last someone like me with long thick hair a very long time. I've found I need to use a good few scoops to give all of my hair a good coating with product so bare that in mind if like me you have a lot of hair!

I'm not usually one to spend a lot of money on hairspray - I figured they all do the same job and usually stick with my £2 bottle of Tresemme. However, after trying this 'Control Spray' from Macadamia, I may have been converted to luxurious hairspray. Check me out, a hairspray snob. Firstly, check out the size of that bottle. Although a bottle of this will set you back £, the humongous 300ml size means its going to last a long time. I've been using it on a regular basis for around a month now and it still feels like a full bottle so bare that in mind before thinking 'I'm not spending that much money on hairspray'. Secondly, like all Macadamia products and the masque mentioned above, it smells great. Using hairspray that doesn't smell like alcohol or paint stripper and doesn't make me almost choke is a definite plus point.

I also love how lightweight this hairspray is and by that I mean it doesn't leave that awful sticky residue that most cheap hairsprays do. When sprayed, a fine even mist of product is distributed from the can. I really love this as I feel like it isn't weighing my hair down and instead is providing control (as the name of the product states) without making my hair feel like cardboard. Come on ladies, we've all done it at least once - sprayed a tad too much hairspray and left the house with hair like staw. Ew! With this product, that isn't possible due to the fine 'mist' type formula. In terms of hold, it does its job. If you need a hairspray to keep every piece of your hair in the same position morning to night, this probably isn't for you but if like me you just want to add a bit of hold but still have natural movement to your hair, you'll love this. I find it adds lots of shine to my hair too which is another bonus. Again, a big thumbs up!

Overall, these are two fabulous products. However, even though I love them, I think they're over priced. I know they say you get what you pay for and yes you probably do but in my current position, I just can't afford to spend £24.00 on a hair mask and £18.00 on hairspray - its insane. However, if these products were discounted, would I buy them? 100% YES! Well, as there's often deals and offers flying around online, I decided to do a bit of detective work and I came across the whole Macadamia hair range for discounted (and more importantly affordable) prices here on the Cheap Smells website. For example, the 250ml hair mask is currently on sale for £14.25 which is much more reasonable and an amount I would be willing to pay. Go check the link out - there's some great bargains to be found if you want to try this hair range without splashing too much cash.

Have you tried either of these products from Macadamia? What do you think? Other than the price, I love these products. I don't have a bad work to say about them!

Lots of Love,
