My Haircare Routine

Hi Ladies. I hope your all having a lovely weekend so far, I'm still full of flu so I'm not up to much other than sitting in front of the tv watching Take Me Out, The X Factor and I'm a Celebrity get me out of here. It's nice to have a cosy weekend in sometimes though and I have my Nanna and Grandad visiting to keep me company so that's lovely.

I've been meaning to write this blog post for what feels like forever as it is one of my most highly requested posts. Whether its via emails, tweets or blog comments for some reason unbeknown to me, lots of people seem to like my hair and want to know what I use on it. I always try to answer all the 'what do you use on your hair' questions as thoroughly as possible but as you will gather from the rest of this post - theres just too many products I love and use to begin listing them all in a tweet or email. With this being said, I hope this post will be useful to someone who is looking for some new products to get their hair in tip top condition. For reference my hair is coloured with bleach and a slightly darker blonde shade.

Shampoo & Conditioner

To be honest, when it comes to Shampoo and Conditioners, other than 'Touch of Silver'  purple shampoo, I don't tend to stick with a certain brand. I like to change things up, experiment and see whats out there. However, I do try to buy relatively high end brands as I find a good quality shampoo and conditioner lasts longer and keeps my hair feeling fresh and shiny for longer than cheaper brands. These are the ones I've currently been using ...

Joico Body Luxe Thickening Conditioner

One of my favourite high end hair brands is definitely Joico so when I spotted this humongous conditioner for the bargain price of £10.00 in TKMAXX I just had to have it. As my hair is long and thick I go through conditioner so quickly its an actual joke so thankfully this one will last me a lot longer than standard size bottles. It says its a thickening conditioner which I'm not sure I actually need or if it actually works but nevertheless it leaves my hair soft, shiny and smelling incredible. I really don't think I've sniffed a nicer conditioner. Yum!

John Frieda Colour Renew Tone Correcting Shampoo

This is a relatively recent purchase of mine but I absolutely love it. I've been using this almost every day at the moment and it smells beautiful. As it's a tone correcting product it banishes any brassy yellow tones from my blonde hair and leaves it looking bright and fresh. It lathers up amazingly and a little goes a long way. If you are a blondie like me I can't recommend this product enough.

John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Shampoo

I've actually just finished this bottle of shampoo and have really enjoyed using it. I was particuarly interested in the John Freida 'Full Repair' range after seeing it featured on lots of blogs and I have to say, it's lovely. Much like the colour renew it smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling clean and refreshed.

PRO:VOKE Touch of Silver Shampoo

This is another tone correcting shampoo that has been a favourite of mine for years and an exception from my 'high-end' rule. It is one of my all time favourite hair products as it does an amazing job at brightening my blonde highlights for such an affordable price (around £3). Unlike the John Frieda Colour Renew that can be used every wash, this can only be used twice a week as its quite a strong and potentially drying if it were to be used too regularly. However, once or twice a week it does an amazing job refreshing my colour and I will continue to repurchase it for years to come. If you want to know more about how it works you can read my post all about it here.

Toni & Guy Reconstruction Mask

This was a random purchase for me a while ago when my hair was feeling a bit dry and needed a boost. I really love using deep conditioners as they give my hair that extra nourishment it might need. Being a blonde my hair is more partial to getting dry but I find using products like this really help to keep it in tip top condition. This one from Toni & Guy smells gorgeous and left my hair feeling smooth, soft and shiny.

 Treatments

Babyliss Pro Argan Oil

I reviewed this product a few months ago here after buying it from the duty free catalogue on my flight to Oz. When I was in Australia I used this every single time I washed my hair and it made such a difference to the overall condition and appearance of my locks. I use a small pea size amount each time I use it and evenly distribute it from the mid-lengths through to the ends. It seriously conditions my hair, leaves it soft and incredibly shiny. I definitely think this is one product that has helped my hair to remain healthy despite the bleach it often gets abused with. I highly recommend trying this or any hair oil for that matter if you want to keep your hair healthy and help it grow.

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner

Good old Aussie, who doesn't love this brand? It smells amazing and does what it says on the bottle - conditions my hair. I love this product as I can use it generously without it weighing my hair down and it is also suitable for wet or dry hair which is perfect for those days when I'm not washing my hair but need a conditioning boost.

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Overnight Treatment

This is one of those products that I absolutely HATED when I first used it. I used it once and then it sat in my draw for months without being touched. Its an overnight treatment that is applied to dry hair and washed off in the morning. At first I found the sensation of putting a thick cream onto dry hair totally bizarre as it made it sticky and greasy looking. However, after using it a few more times I've grown to love it. Although I'm still not a fan of the way it makes my fair feel upon application, I have been plaiting my hair after use and leaving it to work its magic overnight. My hair was going through a really dry faze a few weeks ago and after using this one night and washing it off the next morning, I was left with exceptionally soft hair. I must admit I only use it every now and again as its too time consuming to use every night but overall I really like it and it's unlike any other hair product I've ever used.

Schwarzkopf Liquid Silk Leave-in Conditioner

This is another of my absolute favourite hair products. I actually reviewed it way back when I first started my blog here. If you click that link you will see that I named the post 'My Hair Savoiur' so that says it all really. As well as looking beautifully pink and pearly in the bottle it really does condition my hair amazingly well. Much like the Aussie spray, I spray this all over my hair whether its wet or dry whenever it needs a boost. If I use this every day I really begin to notice a difference in the condition of my hair. To top it off, it's a bargain and currently on sale for only £1.80 at Superdrug here.

Joico Moisture Recovery Leave-in Moisturizer

Yet another amazing product that I recently reviewed here after buying it on a whim from Feel Unique. When I bought it, I didn't really need it but after using other products from Joico and loving them I just had to give it a go. As you can probably tell by now, I'm a sucker for leave-in conditioners as I find them so convenient for those times I haven't got time to sit around for 10/15 minutes waiting for a hair mask to sink in. Leave-in conditioner sprays can be spritzed all over my hair in a matter of seconds and I am good to go. Much like the Aussie and Schwarzkopf versions, this works an absolute treat. However, this smells the nicest. You know when you leave a hair salon and can't stop sniffing your hair? THAT!

Redken Velvet Whip Thermal Softening Treatment

I got this Redken product in a Christmas gift set a couple of years ago and it has lasted me for what seems like a lifetime as I only need to use a pea sized amount each time. Its a cream formula so I try to avoid my roots and just run it through the mid-lengths to ends of my hair. Its a lovely product and it leaves my hair feeling super soft after I use it. I also find my hair blow dries nicer when I use this.

Styling

VO5 Plump Me Up Dry Shampoo

This is another recent purchase of mine and I really like it. I know most dry shampoos do the same job but this one smells lovely and doesn't leave my hair with bright white roots like a lot of dry shampoos can. I find this really handy for those days when I want to get an extra day out of my hair without washing it. I believe washing hair too much can be damaging so a product like this helps to prevent me from over-washing. It's also great for lazy days too.

John Freida Full Repair Root Lift Foam

To be honest, I've not used this many times as it's one of those products that I only tend to use before a night out when I want that extra boost of volume in my roots. However, on the times I have used it it's been very lightweight and left my hair looking bouncy and shiny. I might do a full review on this when I've used it a bit more.

TRESemme Touchable Finish Hairspray

These mini hairsprays are my all time favourites. I don't even want to begin to imagine how many of these I've bought over the years and although I do buy the bigger versions too, these minis are my fave. I don't know why, but I have a thing for mini products as I find them so handy to pop in my handbag, especially for a night out. Surprisingly one of these small bottles lasts me a few weeks as I only give my hair a quick spritz in the morning for some added volume. However, I have been known to use almost a full one on a night out - Shocking I know. I find this one gives me the perfect hold and like it says on the bottle my hair is still 'touchable' unlike their 'freeze spray' version which makes it rock solid.

Lee Stafford Argan Oil Miracle Heat Defence Spray

Again, a relatively recent purchase of mine - can you tell I like buying hair products? Although I haven't been using it for long, on first impressions it has been lovely. As I'm sure you all know it's so important to protect our hair from heat so I've been spraying this all over my hair before blow drying and straightening. As well as smelling lovely it also contains Argan Oil which is an added bonus.

Brushes

Diamonte Paddle Brush

I got this as brush as a birthday present and need I say more? It's huge, works a treat and is covered in diamontes. Every girls perfect hair brush right? Unfortunately I'm not sure where it's from, I tried finding it online but didn't have much success. Boo!

Denman 3D Zebra Brush*

I was sent this brush by Denman a while ago now and can honestly say it is the most amazing hair brush I have ever used. As my hair is quite long and thick it has a tendency to tangle very easily and I quite often get out of the shower to find my hair is quite unmanageable. However, but this brush works amazingly well at removing tangles without causing any damage. Of course I love that its Zebra print too, super cute.

So there we have it, these are the products I'm currently using on my hair. I realise it looks like a lot but I don't use all of these things every day. I alternate them all or use a few of them in conjunction with each other depending on what I feel like my hair needs at that moment in time. I'd also like to point out that leaving my hair to dry naturally for almost five months straight in Australia was one of the best things I ever did for my hair. Considering I'm a blonde my hair is still in good condition so laying off the heated appliances and using a few of these products will certainly help you to achieve nourished, healthy hair.

All of the products mentioned are available from Boots, Superdrug or Feel Unique excluding the paddle brush. Let me know if you treat yourself to any of the products I've recommended and how they work for you. I hope you all enjoyed this post and discovered a few new products you might like to try!

Have a fantastic Saturday night,

Lots of Love,
